Lady Mary Burns Kennedy Scholarship Fund

The Kennedy Society awards annual scholarships to students of Celtic arts such as dance, pipes, drums, harp, fiddle, and language arts.

2012 Scholarship Award Recipient

The Kennedy Society of North America is pleased to announce that Jacob Henderson of Stow, Massachusetts is the recipient of the Lady Mary Burns Kennedy Scholarship for 2012. Jacob is going to be attending the Pipers’ Gathering educational program in Burlington, Vermont, where he will receive 14 contact hours of instruction. His special interest (and, by the way, that of our Deputy Chief Bill Kennedy) is the Scottish Smallpipes. Before going off to the Pipers’ Gathering, Jacob will be going with the Stuart Highland Pipe Band to play in the International Tattoo in Basel, Switzerland. Jacob has been playing since he was 10 and is now attending Middlesex Community College in Bedford, Massachusetts. Jacob’s grandparents are KSNA members Robert and Karen Kennedy. Congratulations, Jacob!

The criteria for a student to receive a Kennedy Society scholarship are:

A scholarship award covers the cost of workshop/class/camp registration, up to $100.

To apply, print and fill out the scholarship application. The application is in Portable Document Format (PDF), which requires a viewer such as the well-known Adobe Reader or the smaller and faster Foxit Reader to view. Both of these viewers are FREE.

A resumé and letter of recommendation from the student’s teacher are required.

The deadline for scholarship applications is April 1.
